If you ride in the left lane, everyone hates you
Anyone who is friends with me on Facebook knows how I feel about this. I often share pictures of drivers going the speed limit having to get out of the left lane to pass someone going below the speed limit in the passing lane. It drives me nuts! It is quite possibly the most inconsiderate thing a driver can do, and yet it’s rampant. Here in Ohio, we have a law making this illegal. We often hear about the Highway State Patrol “enforcing” this law, but I’ve yet to see a single person get ticketed or even pulled over for it. It is the single biggest cause of aneurisms in the United States. (ok, I made that up)
It’s infuriating, and those guilty of it often have zero clue why everyone is so pissed at them. Let me be very clear, if you do this often, people hate you. I mean, they really hate you. Maybe only for a few moments, but trust me, they do. It’s like you think you’re the only human that matters, and since you’re in no hurry, nobody else is either. These are the same people that stop in the middle of a very small grocery store aisle to read a text. Oblivious to those around them, they block the isle and giggle at the cat GIF their mom sent them. Ugh!!!! But I digress…
In my humble opinion (and we all know I’m right), the law against slow left lane driving should be aggressively enforced. If you get caught riding the left lane, you get a warning. A second offense should be automatically ticketed, and that ticket should cost $500. A third offense should be a class A felony and be punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Is that too harsh? Nah, screw these people, let’s reclaim our highways!
